Chenille needles have a sharp point and a long eye. They are thick to make space in the fabric for thicker threads. This #24 needle is small-ish for a chenille needle but the eye is big enough for thicker threads.

When threads are too thick for the Bohin #9 Crewel needle, this is a nice alternative.
