These affordable hoops are made from unfinished hardwood that has been sanded smooth. Each hoop is a generous 1" thick. The wood feels great in your hands and holds fabric securely. (Watch the video below for more.)
At the top of the hoop, a long screw threads through two sturdy wooden blocks, held in place with staples. You can easily adjust the hoop's tightness with the wingnut. Plus, the wooden blocks provide convenient handholds while you work.
The wood of the inner ring comes together over a block of wood. The ends of the ring are stapled to the block of wood. The one drawback that I see to this hoop is this block of wood inside the inner ring which can get in the way when you quilt toward it. But, again, this is an affordable hoop :-).
A 14" hoop is my go-to size—it’s perfect for most projects!
