The Mending Turnip is the perfect tool for mending and darning! Hand crafted from lovely woods just for us by Elizabeth Cox, the mending turnip fits comfortably in your hand to provide a work surface as you mend fabric or knits. It has two sides—a flat side and one that is more pointed. Use the handy groove along with a rubber band, to hold your fabric in place. Be sure to watch the video below.
Elizabeth will make these in batches, between bigger jobs (she makes amazing furniture and cabinets). When we run out, please do email lornabethgoldsmith@gmail.com to get on the waiting list for the next batch.
Elizabeth has a stash of interesting wood scraps that she has used in the latest turnips. Cool, right!? She is a "scrappy" wood worker! She is turning the chunks of wood into pieces with flat sides that can be joined and then turned on the lathe. She then sands and finishes them so that they are smooth and lovely to hold. Each Mending Turnip, as always, will be unique.
She can still make the original "quiet" style. We might not have this option in stock all the time. If you choose "quiet" it's a special order, there may be a delay in shipping while makes it for you.
Size: approximately 3" in diameter, ranging 2 1/2" to 3" tall. These are handmade, and each one is unique :-).
The Mending Turnip goes very well with the Handcrafted Sewing Boxes and Handcrafted Thread Cutter Base.
