This threader has a thick wire to use with bigger needles. It works with the Bohin #9 Crewel needle and #12 Perle Cotton. It works with bigger needles (such as Chenille and Sashiko needles) and #8 Perle Cotton. Watch the video to see it in action.

Bonus! You can make your threader fancier with thread woven through the openings in the pattern.
