Quilters are, by nature, visual people. We are used to bright color wheels, and it's hard to imagine how tints, tones, and shades fit into the bright color wheel world. The Palette-Builder Color Tool shows us exactly how they fit!
Included in this set are FOUR 5" mini wheels that focus only on tints, tones, shades, and neutrals. The front of each wheel has 12 numbered colors, arranged from light to dark. The back side includes color schemes (with corresponding color numbers) for each color. It's straightforward and easy to use.
Standard color wheels focus on pure colors, plus tints (which are lighter), shades (which are darker), and tones (which are grayer). You rarely see neutrals. Since most of us work with all kinds of colors, a standard color wheel may not be helpful. For example, have you ever tried to find Civil War fabrics on a color wheel? Civil War and other grayed colors are Tones! Jewel tones are Shades, low volume colors are Tints, and neutrals work with them all.
